Consolidated Freight
Definition
Multiple smaller shipments from different customers combined into one container, trailer or transportation movement to use capacity efficiently and share line-haul costs. This is the broader operational practice; when it specifically involves ocean freight combined into a shared, not-full container, it is billed and documented as a Less-than-Container Load (LCL) shipment.
Example
For example, several Oʻahu shipments are combined into one container bound for Maui.
