Less-than-Container Load (LCL)
Definition
Cargo that does not fill an entire ocean container and is consolidated with other customers’ compatible shipments moving on a similar route. LCL is the specific ocean-freight billing and container-fill classification for consolidated freight, distinct from the broader practice of Consolidated Freight, which can also apply to trucking or other non-ocean movements.
